it is soooooo boring...

Good greif is it boring. For anyone who is wondering, Montreal was amazing, I had a really good time, and I think my fluency improved a lot. It's harder to keep up with Quebecois French than French French, because they have their own accent and pseudo-dialect because of it, which makes them a deal harder to understand. So the fact that I could keep up with them and have normal conversations with them made me feel pretty darn good, and I'd definitely go back. Montreal is a pretty cool city. I went to Quebec City as well, but it was so touristy that it was hard to stand. I did however find a really great record store called Musique de Faubourg, on Rue St. Jean, so yeah, if you're ever in the area, I reccommend them.

I was pretty happy to get home, to be honest. I missed the Rhozes, I missed Michael a ton, I missed the fams, I missed Iowa in general. It's home! Lots of grass and open fields and such, there isn't much of a claustrophobic feeling here, really. I like that. You can look up at night and see stars or clouds, not haze. And whereas if you grew up in a city outside of here you might get bored without a Starbucks twice a block, the natives just don't care - we know where to go to get good coffee that doesn't cost 5 dollars, and it's home. We have grass to mow, and not with a weed whipper either. It isn't perfect, but I'll be damned, it's home.

It just so happens home is a little boring right now. I've had since I got back off of both jobs, and I go back to retirement land tomorrow, and really, I'm glad, because I'm getting pretty bored. And broke. I was supposed to get my federal tax return while I was in Canada, but something got messed up....so now I get to wait until June 10th when I'll get a paper check from them. I at least know it's coming, but I have bills, and its either eat or pay them, so if the IRS could make with the quickness, that would be great. Also, they should fix the music that plays while you're on hold, because it is HELLA bad. Worst I've ever heard, and I get put on hold by the bank all the time.

In about 6 hours or so, I'll be in a van heading towards the airport. We leave for Montreal tomorrow, and it's partially sunk in that I'm leaving - I think it'll really hit tomorrow. Anyway, next update will be from Canada, and if you want a postcard, send me your address and I'll send you one. A bientot! :D Posted by Hello
